A new payment system, soon to be offered in Britain, will simply require the tap of your mobile phone to purchase goods of up to £15, which could potentially eliminate the need to carry cash. Sony has hired private investigators in a search for the hackers that performed the security breach on the database containing Playstation users’ personal information. Sony state that an additional 25m users’ details have been stolen from an outdated database, totalling the number of potential stolen information to 100m. Although investigators are not thought to be close to identifying the culprits, at least some of the attacks came from a Malaysia-based server, according to the Wall Street Journal. Playstation users first noticed an issue had arisen when the service became unavailable on 20th April, but now Sony has warned gamers that their data has been compromised following a hacking attack on its online service.
